Many communities hold events that include intergenerational activities to foster mutual respect and understanding between the older and younger people.
Consider volunteering at different service opportunities. There are some communities that encourage younger folks to help senior citizens by volunteering their skills or time. Some of these volunteer opportunities offering companionship to seniors, helping with chores, or provide transportation.
Both government and non-profit organizations put together campaigns to raise awareness for the needs, rights, and contributions to society of senior citizens. See what local organizations may be doing for this holiday!
Senior citizens are our parents, grand-parents, and neighbors. Using this day to honor their lives and accomplishments serves to strengthen communities and encourage respect across all the generations.
