Did You Know Your Electricity Can Be Shut Off?

The utility company that provides the electricity to the community in which you live may turn off the power if there is a threat of fire due to high winds or threatening circumstances.  Most manufactured housing communities are sub-metered.  The utility company delivers the power to the park at a master meter and the power is distributed throughout the community to sub-meters on each home site.  Everyone is billed depending on their use.  In this case, the park owner/management receives the notice of potential loss of power because of a shut off.

If you receive your electricity directly from the utility service provider and are billed by the utility company directly, you will receive these notices and announcements of potential power shut off in your billing statement. While these types of power losses are not common, they can happen.  So, it is very important to be prepared with flashlights and batteries.  There are a variety of flashlights that plug into the wall outlet and light up when the power goes off.  It is a good New Year’s resolution to make sure you are prepared for possible power outages
