As Summer approached and the weather starts to heat up, it is inevitable that you will begin to experience some discomfort. With rising temperatures, how can you avoid rising electricity costs from air conditioning? Here are some different methods to keep cool in your home without breaking the bank.
Keep your curtains drawn and blinds closed during the day and open them up at night. Blocking out the sun during the day can significantly reduce the temperature in your home. Thicker curtains and blinds will do this even better. Conversely once the sun goes down, opening the windows will promote air circulation and cool down your home. Consider sleeping with the windows open as well to take advantage of the lowest temperatures in the early mornings.

Check your ceiling fans and the direction they spin. For summer months, your ceiling fans should spin counterclockwise. Due to the angle of the blades, the counterclockwise rotation will push cooler air down and pull warmer air up and away from you. There is a switch on the base of the ceiling fan that can be accessed with ease to change the direction.
There are several small, portable air conditioners on the market that are fairly reasonable and do well at cooling smaller spaces. However, whenever adding an electric air conditioner, be sure to check with the park manager to make sure it is compatible with you Park’s electric system.
Dealing with the summer heat is more than just an inconvenience. Not only can it run up your electricity bill if you’re not careful, high temperatures can also lead to dehydration or even heat stroke. This summer, we hope you utilize some of these tips to beat the heat and remember to stay hydrated.
