Welcome Spring!

Spring is here, signaling the regrowth of flowers and plants and a start to warmer days. As new life takes root and grows, it’s important to know of different ways we can help and encourage this growth. Here are a few tips this Earth Day to facilitate this!

1. Support local pollinators! Pollinators help to spread the seeds of different plants and flowers. Bees are a common example but also include butterflies and hummingbirds. Hummingbirds can be fed a mixture of sugar and water to supplement their energy in areas where there are less flowers or in areas affected by colder weather.

2. Plant flowers native to your area! There are many uses for gardening. Not only can it make your outdoor spaces look colorful and lively, they will also further support pollinators and save you time and money on maintaining them. Local flora tends to require much less water than lawn grass and will be better suited to survive throughout the seasons due to being naturally adapted to the area!

3. Conserve water! As the months start to warm up, consider watering your lawns, gardens, or other plants in the morning or evening when it is cooler. Watering your greenery in the middle of the day can cause the water for your plants to evaporate more than actually hydrate, wasting money and water and potentially causing your plants to wither.

Just like how one tidies and maintains the interiors of one’s home, it is equally as important to maintain the outdoor spaces. And these small actions not only help to keep our Earth looking great, they can also help us save money and effort in the long run.
